Exploring Practice and Visual Methodologies in Research

Light has been extensively utilized in the sculptures and architectural works of ancient Greece and Rome to emphasize the details of statues and buildings, creating visual depth. This continued in the Renaissance when artists started using light to make their pictures more realistic. Now, using light in art is common in things like photos, buildings, and stage design. Artists try to show emotions in their work by using different lighting techniques, colours, and technologies.

I aim to make work that captures the essence of light, experimenting with diverse approaches such as light expressionism and deconstructing light symbols. My research focuses on how light affects emotions in art. I am interested to incorporating light through many mediums such as painting, printing, or digital techniques. My main source of inspiration is the beautiful experience of light passing through leaves. This study investigates the immense effect of light on art, specifically its power to trigger emotions and create an atmosphere. And my creative goal is to incorporate light into my paintings.

Final Presentation with Paper-Cutting and Overlapping
Concluded by utilizing paper-cutting and overlapping techniques for the final visual composition.

Throughout the exploration of my creative process, I realized the need for greater clarity in the techniques used for drawing. The portrayal of leaves, in particular, requires more refinement and uniqueness. On the other hand, the installation of light has seen success after overcoming several initial failures. During discussions with tutors, it became apparent that there is a concern about the potential for the light installation to create a flashy yet insubstantial entertainment effect. Therefore, moving forward, I should emphasize and focus more on the visual representation and content presentation in my drawings to address this concern. Specifically, a more in-depth study and exploration are required to enhance the ways and techniques in which leaves are portrayed.
